At the heart of the emerging District Union neighborhood, the pavilion stands as an architectural lantern — a luminous landmark that embodies the identity of the new district. Its perforated metal mesh envelope acts as a subtle filter, modulating light and enhancing the building’s porosity between interior and exterior. This deliberate transparency reveals the activity within, inviting the public to step inside.
Conceived from the outset as a reversible structure, the pavilion fulfills its current role as a welcoming space for presenting the development while incorporating the conditions for its future transformation into a community center. Generous open volumes, fluid circulation, and programmatic flexibility will allow it to host gatherings, events, and collective activities, reinforcing its role as a social catalyst for the neighborhood.
The warm and inviting interior, designed in collaboration with Perron Design, complements the pavilion’s architectural openness. Soft tones, natural materials, and carefully curated furnishings create a welcoming atmosphere that supports both its current sales function and its future community-oriented purpose.
